ZIM launches new service connecting the West Coast of South America and the East Coast of America
ZIM Integrated Shipping Services will launch the ZIM Colibri Xpress (ZCX) service from the west coast of South America to the East Coast of America, starting in Chile in the coming weeks. ZIM stated that ZCX will offer competitive service for refrigerated cargo from Chile, Ecuador, Peru and Colombia, with the fastest shipping times to Philadelphia (the first port of call on the East Coast of America and competitive shipping times to other U.S. ports.
The ZCX service, which will be operated independently by ZIM, will deploy six 1700 teu vessels per week, increase refrigerated capacity, connect ports on the west coast of South America and the East Coast of America, as well as rapid transshipment from East Coast ports in America, and direct service from Miami in South Florida to all Latin American trade. The new service will connect transshipment ports on the West coast of South America to transshipment ports on the east coast of South America, and will also provide transshipment connections from Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean to the port of Philadelphia.
"Named after the famous beautiful South American Colibri bird, this unique product line is designed for agility, efficiency and reliability," said Nissim Yochai, executive vice president, ZIM USA President and head of the Latin America business unit.
The new routes will be operated in the following order: SAN Antonio (Chile), Callao (Peru), Guayaquil (Ecuador)- Cartagena (Colombia)- Kingston (Jamaica)- Philadelphia - Miami, Kingston (Jamaica)- Buenaventura (Colombia - Guayaquil (Ecuador)- Callao (Peru)- SAN Antonio (Chile)
