China's seaborne imports and exports grew 6.5% in the first quarter

According to the Ministry of Natural Resources, China's seaborne imports and exports rose 6.5% in the first quarter from a year earlier, 1.7 percentage points higher than the national growth rate in the same period. The export volume grew by 9.7% year on year, 1.3 percentage points higher than the total export volume of the country in the same period. The value of imports increased by 2.0% year on year, 1.8 percentage points higher than the national total import growth in the same period. The import and export volume of aquatic products increased by 10.8%, of which the export volume increased by 1.3% and the import volume increased by 22.6%.

 

Deutsche Post DHL's revenue fell 24.1% in the first quarter

Deutsche Post DHL has released its financial results for the first quarter of 2023, reporting revenues of 20.9 billion and operating profit (EBIT) of 1.6 billion, down 24.1% from the same period last year. The margin before interest and tax for the group was 7.8 per cent. The group's net profit before non-controlling interests in the first quarter of 2023 was 911m.

 

Linkedin will cease service on August 9, 2023

On May 9, linkedin published a letter to its linkedin Workplace members, stating that its localized job search platform in China, "linkedin Workplace," will cease service on August 9, 2023. Linkedin said that from now until August 9, 2023, users will be able to download their linkedin Workplace account data from the Settings page.

 

Saudi Arabia's economy grew 3.9% in the first quarter

Saudi Arabia's gross domestic product grew 3.9% in the first quarter from a year earlier, led by inactivity, according to preliminary government data. Non-oil activity grew 5.8 per cent in the first quarter from a year earlier, while oil activity grew 1.3 per cent, according to preliminary estimates from the Saudi General Bureau of Statistics. Government services activity increased by 4.9%.
