Maersk stops booking suspension on Kenya – Zanzibar service

 

 

Maersk announced it has resumed booking acceptance onto its 25Z service Kisiwa Express operating between Mombasa in Kenya and Zanzibar.

 

The Danish ocean carrier said Africa Global Logistics (AGL), a logistics company in Africa, recently signed a management agreement with the Zanzibar Port Corporation to oversee operations in the terminal. As a result of the agreement, AGL will be responsible for cargo handling operations and marine services at the countrys main port facility.

 

"The company is committed to investing in the modernisation projects and with the installation of new equipment, we expect to see improved productivity and a reduction of waiting time," noted Maersk in a statement.

 

Maersk added that it taken steps to provide sufficient capacity for its customers volumes by adding another feeder on the NEW 26Z service, the Korosho Express. Now, the two vessels will call Mombasa terminal at a 42-day frequency each, with berthing spaced 21 days apart, according to Maersk's announcement.
