Dry cargo vessel makes first call at Port Houston

Port Houston recently welcomed the vessel Bahri Diriyah, a versatile multipurpose dry cargo vessel, to its Turning Basin Terminal.

This marked the vessels maiden voyage to Houston from Dammam, Saudi Arabia. The arrival highlights Port Houstons pivotal role as a hub for international trade and reinforces its strategic ties with the Middle East, which now accounts for 8% of the US ports total market share.

We are excited to welcome the Bahri Diriyah on its first visit to Port Houston. This maiden voyage highlights our commitment to growing the regions role in the global supply chain and offering our customers efficient operations. Were proud to support the diverse cargo needs in the Houston area, commented Charlie Jenkins, CEO at Port Houston.

Captained by Robert Kaczmarek and manned by a 28-member crew, Bahri Diriyah operates on low-sulfur diesel and boasts impressive specifications, including a length of 134 meters, a width of 29 meters, and a capacity of 39,509 cubic meters of general cargo.

Weighing 31,241 tons, the vessel operates as a tramp ship, calling on Port Houston on an as-needed basis, offering flexible and efficient cargo solutions for the regions trade community.

Port Houstons Turning Basin Terminal, often referred to as the City Docks, has been a cornerstone of the areas commerce for over a century. Today, it stands as the largest breakbulk facility in the region, handling a wide array of cargoes such as steel, dry bulk, wind energy components, lumber, and more.

Bahri Line is thrilled to announce the maiden call of our new multi-purpose vessel, MV Bahri Diriyah, at Port Houston. Houston is one of our largest markets, and this milestone underscores our strong partnership with Port Houston. As we expand our multi-purpose fleet, we look forward to continued growth with the support of our valued customers, stated Rajith Aykkara, Vice President of Bahri Line.
