At around 8 a.m. local time on Nov. 7, ONE AMAZON, a brand new container ship with a capacity of 11,923TEU, ran aground while entering the Port of Itajai in Brazil during its maiden voyage.
According to media reports, ONE AMAZON entered the port at low tide and came into contact with a sandbar in the turning point area, but was quickly refloated with the help of an auxiliary tugboat and reached the port of Navegantes safely.
Built in 2022, ONE AMAZON, with a capacity of 11,923TEU and flying a Hong Kong flag, was chartered to ONE by Seaspan, the world's largest container ship chartering company, with ONE currently deployed on the South American SX1 route.
This route is connected to Shanghai, Ningbo, Shekou, Yantian, Hong Kong and other ports in China. ONE AMAZON was on voyage 2236E at the time of the incident. According to the shipping schedule data, the shipping companies that may share space on the ONE AMAZON ship include MSC, HPL and ONE.
